BHSU and Spearfish Valley Produce Working Together for Families

Spearfish Valley Produce owner Nicole Krautschun donated 886 pounds of fresh produce from her gardens to the Spearfish Community Food Pantry.

The following headed up by Dr. Ellis picked the produce and delivered it to the Spearfish Community Food Pantry: pictured left – right Kathleen Fitzgerald – Ellis, Advisor, SDSU, Dr. Trenton Ellis, BHSU Assistant Professor of Human Services, BHSU Nichole Walters, HSSA President (Human Services & Sociology Student Association) President, BHSU and Shae Walters owner of Quality Finish.

The Pantry serves 270 families each month, on average, which totals around 650 people, and on average, 15-20 new families sign up for assistance each month.  Donations are greatly appreciated and fresh produce is always a very welcome addition for the families.
