2015 Boy Scout Food Drive

Volunteers weigh and sort food.
The 2015 Boy Scout Food Drive goes in the books as a huge success!  Saturday,    December 12, 2015, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts delivered filled blue bags to the Spearfish Community Food Pantry as they wrapped up another food drive. They used cars, pickups, vans, and even a dump trailer
to deliver the 6674 pounds of bounty from
the Spearfish Community. Vehicles were unloaded, weighed and sorted by scouts,
their leaders, 4-H members, BHSU Cross Country team, Community members, Pantry board members, young and old.

A dump trailer loaded with donations arrives.

A project of this magnitude takes a lot of people o make it work”, said George Vansco a Pantry board member. “It’s heart-warming to see a community come together for such a good cause and for what it teaches our youth about service”.  Once weighted and sorted the items are placed on the shelves of the Pantry.  Scouts and volunteers were treated to hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, chips and hot chocolate.

Volunteers sort the many different food items collected.
Scouts enjoy down time after a a productive morning.

Thank you to everyone who donated, the Pantry shelves are full and we count our blessings for living in such a generous community.
